Yacht sailing photography

I say it often but it's always nice to be asked by a client to shoot multiple photography events, year after year. You get a real understanding of what's needed together without too much in the way of repeated instructions. The client knows exactly what they will get from me - the job will be completed well and on time. The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) asked me to shoot a wonderfully sunny weekend at the Rultand Sailing Club for their Sailability yachting races. A weekend of racing for the best para sailors in the country. Actually the first Multiclass event since 2019 after the pandemic. It's great to see the different modifications to each boat to suit the person sailing. The support of family and friends for each competitor is essential to get them what they need to compete. Genuine engineering brilliance created.

My role across the weekend was to capture a mixture of on the water yacht photography on and off the water activities. As always I try to capture moments through the day that tell a little more than just a sporting event. To capture some emotive moments alongside athletic grace.

Pretty much the whole of my work is on land but it's always a treat to get on the water.
